This generational camp on a small lake in the Adirondacks is only accessible by boat. With the site presenting inherent challenges, we also dealt with the strict guidelines set by the Adirondack Park Association. Specific Adirondack vernacular was employed with natural cedar shake siding, smaller divided lite windows, and a brown and green color palette. Utilizing stone found on the site, some boulders we worked into the surrounding landscape design while others designated to the piers supporting the front gable timber frame porch.
The Main House on the camp is set back form the water. The design and location are beholden to the previous structure and strict Adirondack Park Association guidelines for footprint and height. Permitting with the APA was a long process as the clients pushed for what they wanted to achieve with our guidance under the interpretation of the codes.
