Forever Home in Central NY

After becoming empty-nesters, this couple built a single-level forever home on their land in the Syracuse area. Without any preconceived ideas of what they wanted their home to look like, we had many creative meetings to develop a full interior build out and aesthetic that married rugged, industrial materials with a polished, functional design. Natural stone countertops were focal points in each space.

Custom stained white oak flooring with a multi-step process anchors the darker colors of the burned and brushed grey-brown timber frame and dark stained cabinets. Custom doors and built-ins from douglas fir continue the dark timber finish throughout the house.

Front façade

The main approach showcases a steep 12:12 roof pitch with green accented fascia to compliment the natural cedar shakes and burned and brushed Douglas Fir Timber frame.

Great Room

Airy light fixtures float between heavy timber trusses. The stone fireplace flanked by Douglas Fir built-ins echos the stone in the kitchen as well as the screen porch fireplace beyond creating a spine through the spaces.

Kitchen

The high vaulted ceiling made from reclaimed patina soft wood is featured with soft uplighting. A warm grey tone enhances the grain and blushing of birch cabinetry giving the client the kitchen a casual, rustic feel. A white oak butcher block anchors the end of the leathered granite island.

Humidor and wine storage

On the back side of the range wall is a recessed niche with wine storage and a cedar interior humidor for the clients cigar collection. This dining nook is a transition space between the kitchen and the outdoor porch areas that lead to the man cave in the adjacent detached garage.

Man Cave

The man cave as an extension of the garage is just steps from the main house. Featuring reclaimed timber bow-string trusses and skip-planed reclaimed black painted oak from Kentucky horse fencing, this rugged space is the client's oasis. A custom built-in humidor is enjoyed in comfort with a full air filtration system that draws cigar smoke up and away.

Main Entry Door

A custom douglas fir entry door stained to compliment the timber frame is flanked by custom sidelite and transom windows. The cedar shake panels are stained with a Spanish Moss for a rich brown tone with compliments of a custom dark green trim color.

Powder Bath

Utilizing a unique Brazilian green riverbed stone for the powder bath at the entry makes a statement to guests as they enter. The clear vessel sink allows for the most unobstructed view of this gorgeous slab. Reclaimed barn wood wainscoting adds texture to this simple space
