About Diana Gerken

My passion for Interior Design started at a young age with me folding paper into furniture and making model houses in my room. With an electrician for a father and parents who bought fixer-uppers to rent out, I quickly became immersed in hands-on renovating and construction. I honed this passion at Rochester Institute of Technology and received my Bachelor of Fine Art in Interior Design. Staying in the Rochester area, I've been in various industries from high-end furniture, custom trade show exhibits, and currently the in-house Interior Designer for New Energy Works. I find myself in a fluid role providing support to the Architectural Design team through Design Development and Construction Documents, developing a complete scope of finishes and selections for GC's, and providing designs for full custom millwork packages that I can then carry through to production drawings as needed.

I love the balance of creative design and technical detailed thinking that being an Interior Designer provides. With a passion for environmentally sustainable materials and building practices, I love to work with clients to educate and create beautiful, natural spaces.

Some interesting facts about me:

  • I love crafting and working with fiber like yarn, felt, and cotton
  • I am a trained classical singer and perform with the local Philharmonic Orchestra with the Eastman Rochester Chorus
  • I'm a home renovator, having worked hands on designing and executing those designs on personal projects
  • I have a passion of cars and driving on track as much as possible during the summer
